Donald McKinley Glover (born 25 September 1983) is an American actor, writer, actor, musician and rapper. Glover first came for his work in the sketch group Derrick Comedy attention and is best known for his role as a community college student Troy Barnes on the NBC comedy series known community.
Glover was at Edwards Air Force Base, California, born and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He studied at New York University with a degree in Dramatic Writing in 2006. Glover is known for his work on the NBC show Community alongside Joel McHale and Chevy Chase. Glover was a writer for The Daily Show in 2005 and the NBC series 30 Rock New Music Releases 2008 to 2009, where he was also an occasional guest appearance. He was the Writers Guild of America Award award for best comedy series in February 2009 ceremony for his work presented at the third season of 30 Rock.
Glover raps as Childish Gambino, a name he found of a Wu-Tang Clan name generator. He released an album titled Sick Boi on 5 June 2008, in which he thanks himself. On 17 September 2009, released the album Gambino Poindexter. A pair of mixtapes entitled I’m just a rapper, and I’m just a RAPPER 2 in quick succession were published in early 2010, Robert Scahill said its manufacturing know-how, helping with the majority of the tracks.
His third and latest album, culdesac, was set in order to 2 Be published in July 2010, but a few last-minute additions caused the album to be delayed for a day. The album New Music Releases was made available on 3 July. Glover has said in interviews that the “Sick Boi” and “Poindexter” he had the feeling that they hide behind gimmicks, such as pink sweater. But his subsequent projects he has on more personal subject matter, including family, school yard bullying, troubled romantic relationships, suicidal thoughts and alcoholism affected. He has denied his 2002 album The Younger I Get, because the raw-to waffle, what he called a “decrepit Drake.”
On 1 December 2010, Glover published the first track from his EP entitled to be alone. He left the next track, Freaks And Geeks, and a five-song track list, 11 February. On 25 February 2011 New Music Releases, Donald published the dates for the IAMDONALD tour and his first music video for “Freaks and Geeks”. The “Freaks and Geeks” music video by Dan Eckman, director of the troupe derrickcomedy was shot. On 8 March 2011 Donald released his latest EP on his official website.
On 4 May, in a recent interview with TheHipHopUpdate Glover showed that he is currently working on an LP, which will be published in September.
Glover also referred to himself as Cheezy, Sir Durton Cloud 9, Ms. Long-Lady Stanhope, Bambini, and Bam-B.
